Preparing for Your Driveway Paving Project

Before Prep Day

  • Clear all vehicles and debris from the driveway area.
  • Notify us of any sprinklers, underground wiring, or invisible fencing.
  • Flag sprinkler heads or sensitive areas near the driveway.
  • Make sure outdoor water faucets are turned on.
  • If any changes to the original proposal are needed, contact your salesperson before prep begins.
  • Garage doors should be open for crew access.
  • We typically pave within a few days of prep unless otherwise scheduled.

On Paving Day

  • Keep the driveway clear of cars and objects.
  • Allow 5–7 days of curing before driving on the new surface. Wait up to 14 days in hot weather.
  • Postpone deliveries (oil, mulch, appliances, etc.) for at least 3 months.
  • Open garage doors to allow compacting equipment close access.
  • Have water accessible for crew equipment cleaning if needed.
  • Provide check payment to the crew if you're home that day.
  • Lightly water the driveway 1–2 times daily for two weeks to help with curing.

Long-Term Care Tips

  • Don't turn the steering wheel while the car is stationary on the driveway—this can leave marks.
  • Rotate where you park during the first 12 months to avoid indentations.
  • Avoid parking heavy vehicles like RVs or trailers on your new driveway.
  • Beware of sharp objects or pressure points like chair legs, kickstands, or heels on warm days.
  • Edges are most vulnerable—avoid driving or parking close to the sides.
  • Minor surface variation is normal due to asphalt mix inconsistencies.
  • Don’t leave leaking vehicles on the surface—oil and fluids can damage asphalt.
